Gallery One - "Fertile Fields"
The artist states "Fertile Fields is a series that pays homage to the landscape created by the farmers and ranchers of North America. Firmly planted in a realistic sense of scale, perspective and images, the art blossoms with an unrealistic sense of color."
This transformation occurs when the color wheel is shifted. What would look blue in reality is now seen as red. Yellow is now viewed as blue while red appears as yellow. The shift is applied to the secondary colors as well.
Using the "wrong" colors to paint an otherwise realistic landscape creates a sense of the unreal. This series continues the artist’s quest to use color to challenge the viewer. Questions range from "do you dream in these colors?" to " is it from a photo with a filter?" or "are you looking through night-vision goggles?"
No matter what questions are raised by the technique, the fact remains that agriculture relies on the rich and fertile soil of its fields to produce the bounty from the land. The artist relies on vivid colors for a richly painted work of art.

Gallery Two - "Advertising LIFE"
"Advertising LIFE is a series of large paintings based on small collages created with advertisements from LIFE magazines printed in the 1950's. The three paintings in each tryptych use common elements from ads which have been deconstructed and reassembled."
Why use LIFE magazine clippings and why the 50’s? "I was away from my studio for a lengthy period of time and felt the urge to create. I was at my parents’ home and discovered stacks and stacks of old magazines.
I found many ads for automobiles and other manufactured items in an array of bright hues. In the 1950’s they weren’t afraid of using color, so the ads became my palette. I cut them and deconstructed them to reflect what has happened to our way of life, since that era". The tryptychs are designed to hang either vertically or horizontally.
"Randall Weidner's ADVERTISING LIFE collage series was ideal for our 1950 Alexander Mid Century home! Taking the theme of 1950's automobiles was not only genius and innovative, but classically masculine. We look forward to seeing his future works!"
-Francisco Laguna & Jay McNamra

Gallery Four - "Appropriated Fragments Along the Continuum of Art"
Randall takes fragments inspired by other artists, decomposes them and rearranges them into an entirely new work of art in the form of collage. These collages are then painted at a larger scale usually 36" x 36", and sometimes incorporate foil leafing or other mixed media. This is his most abstract work.

Gallery Five - "The Painted Desert" and "The Human Figure"
With Randall's move to the desert look for more work to be inspired by the local environment of Palm Springs. He has also begun to paint the human figure, in his colors, of course.
